sitting down at the dinner table after a well fed holiday meal with my family we always seem to exchange great stories that cross the table more than passing the desserts for second helpings.  hearing stories of what life was life back when my grandfather grew up has always intrigued me,  like the cost of a movie being a nickel.  he always mentioned how his father worked at this little dairy farm tucked away on the back roads in Framingham.  during the late fall before the snow falls you can get a glimpse Eastleigh Dairy Farm from the road.  the rolling hills of this farm are speckled with granite boulders that have been there for hundreds of years which transports you to ireland or some european country, a world away from the fast pace of the metrowest.  within the last year this dairy farm has started selling ice cream, raw milk and a few other dairy related products.  today after a year of saying I will make the quick detour back in time,  finally I stopped an order a peanut butter and chocolate ice cream.  it was a little scoop of heaven in a cone,  bringing back memories of warm summer nights, ending with a cool ice cream with the family.  if you ever are in the area you should take the detour back in time to this 1930’s style architecture.

with some extra time being cooped up inside due to cold weather and a lot of snow this season, this has given me the opportunity to get more work done with my online archive adding a new gallery mountain biking.  for me its a constant battle of making time to process out my images, give them some keywords, then upload them.  sounds easy but more time behind the computer is less time spent outside.  now with that being said, all my images in my online archive are available for download or prints.  if there are any type of images you are looking feel free to contact me.

ground hog day is right around the corner, and it feels like winter is never going to end this year!  as usual keeping active outside in the winter is always tough especially this year in the northeast we have been getting dumped on by a snow storm every other day.  yesterday I hiked mount monadnock in new hampshire, to try to get back into the swing of hiking.  the first few real hikes I ever did were in the winter and I have never stopped! the best part is there are no bugs or mud to avoid…. just a little ice but with the amount of snow this year the ice is really minimal.  now I challenge you to get out of the couch you are sitting in and get out and try something new this winter whether it be snowshoeing or just going for a walk a local park (you’d be surprised how much use the trails still get in the winter)  happy trails!

A few check marks in 2010 from my bucket list:
• blue moon hike on new years eve and celebrated new years on top of a mountain
• hiked mt katahdin (highest point in maine)
• volunteered for trail work with nemba
• joined outdoor organizations to give back to the community

A few goals added to my bucket list for 2011:
• thru hike the long trail in vermont
• show a friend the experience of hiking under a full moon
• learn a new language
• photograph something completely different than what I normal photograph

Normally I don’t preach but I will highly recommend everyone to have some sort of bucket list!  Post your top 3 goals on your bucket list and the first 3 people will get a free 5×7 of their choice of photo from my archive!  Great way to start off the new year!

back in july my friend eammon and other riders from the blackstone valley chapter of new england mountain bike (nemba) got together to do a photo shoot. we ended up at a place called vietnam, which is a mountain bike park in milford massachusetts that is owned by nemba.  the jumps are amazing, rocks gardens are insense and the riders are first rate!  it is one of the toughest yet most rewarding rides in the massachusetts that i have had the chance to attempt, never-mind capturing it.  now that i’ve gone off on a tangent afterwords eammon submited this photo for freehub magazine’s go-pro photo contest and with the help of other riders voting, this photograph won the contest.  enjoy this double-page spread!

happy thanksgiving!  hope every gets to enjoy some good food, great company and plenty of good memories today…my day started off with a great tradition of french toast casserole with my grandparents who I am very thankful to have in my life.  every major holiday (thanksgiving, christmas & easter) my family’s tradition is to start of the breakfast with this wonderful treat.  after many years of indulging on this amazing dish I decided to actually photograph it.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING =)

usually i’m not all about new technology but this is worth blogging about!  about 6 months ago a dear friend and colleague decided to go on a new venture designing and app (short for application for iPad, iPhone or other apple products for anyone who is wondering) for the iPad.  MediapadPro is an app designed for anyone in the creative field and any other field for that fact, that wants to present photographs, video, web Mediapad Pro content & audio all in one nice clean presentation that can be branded to your business all within a few clicks if you’d call it that.

a prospective client will have the choices of viewing the different media types and portfolio’s within each media outlet.  this is the best controlled environment that  i have seen for presentation. now on the back end of things it is really easy to use, but I highly recommend watching the video’s on how to use the app.

after making presentations to a few clients the quality of the imagery on the iPad linked with the cleanliness of the app was a huge hit, especially when I showed my time lapse motion content!  Also a big prop goes out to Mediapad Pro for being featured in Pdn Online within the first week of being released in the iTunes store.

Scene Magazine’s review of Gaslight from late summer. Gaslight, Brasserie du Coin, (literally brasserie on the corner) was a fantastic little find. Right at 5pm this place was packed  with not an empty table, but as the after work rush crowd faded out this became a quiet hidden jewel. With outdoor seating and a great little bar, this is a great place to grab a French Brasserie Cuisine in Boston’s historic South End.
